Please be aware of the proposal to rebalance our elementary schools in Oldham County for the 2019/20 school year, which could affect the Arbor Ridge Subdivision. They have several proposals, some of which call for part of the Arbor Ridge Subdivision to be moved to Camden Station and others that leave all of Arbor Ridge at Kenwood Station. Forum #1 was in May which was and initial overview of why they were looking to rebalance. There are a number of Public Forums over the next few months to discuss this, if you want information or your voice to be heard please attempt to attend at least one of these sessions. It looks as though they plan to have a final draft plan in place by October of this year. The forum dates and times are listed below and can also be found on the OCS Redistricting webpage listed below.

Rebalancing elementary schools slated for 2019/20 school year
To best meet the challenges of our growing community while ensuring the academic success of our students, starting with the 2019/20 school year, we will be shifting a small percentage of the population of some of our elementary schools. This will allow us to balance out building capacity and staffing needs.
Due to pockets of increased growth in parts of the county, some elementary schools are over capacity, while others are well under capacity. We are concerned about both overcrowding and under-utilization. When utilization dips below 85% in some schools while others are over 100%, it is time for a change. Right now, there are some schools that are over 100% capacity (Harmony, Locust Grove), but others (Crestwood, La Grange), are between 75% – 85%. Per the Kentucky Department of Education, we cannot build a new elementary school to reduce school population until all our elementary schools are at least 85% capacity, so the solution lies in redrawing boundary lines for some of the elementary schools.
Oldham County Schools will host a community forum in May 2018 to receive initial input on the rebalancing plan. The first draft of the balancing plan will be presented in an open forum in June of 2018. The second draft of the plan will be presented in a forum in August of 2018 and the third draft of the plan presented in a forum in October of 2018. The final proposal will be presented to the board on October 29, 2018. The board is expected to vote on the proposal in November of 2018. The plan would be implemented in August of 2019.
